Adriana Rivadeneira Almenara, MAc, LAc is a practitioner of East Asian Medicine whose work is rooted in Classical Chinese Medicine and Worsley Classical Five-Element Acupuncture.

She graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), class of 2011, and has since dedicated her practice to understanding how the body communicates, adapts, and reorganizes over time in relationship to lived experience.

Adriana Rivadeneira MAc, LAc

Her work is not centered on symptom correction, but on relationship—the ongoing dialogue between body, environment, emotion, and nervous system. She understands health as a living process shaped through time, context, and the body’s continuous effort to maintain coherence in the face of stress, adaptation, and overwhelm.

Treatment becomes a space where the body is not required to override or perform, but can begin to settle, reorganize, and return to internal coherence at a pace that feels safe. Rather than working against protective patterns, her approach is to listen for them, meet them with steadiness, and support the conditions in which change becomes possible.

She works with individuals who often experience themselves as sensitive, highly responsive, or navigating complexity in ways that do not always fit conventional frameworks. This includes:

  • Chronic or complex health conditions
  • Neurodivergence and sensory sensitivity
  • Needle anxiety
  • Stress, burnout, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm
  • Digestive and sleep disturbances
  • Hormonal shifts and cycle-related changes
  • Recovery from addiction and life transitions

What is shared is not a diagnosis, but a need for a different kind of relationship with the body—one grounded in patience, clarity, and trust.

Care may include acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, cupping, and gua sha, along with supportive guidance around diet, lifestyle, and simple Qi Gong–based movement practices when appropriate. These are offered as ways of supporting regulation and embodied awareness rather than prescriptive protocols.

Her clinical training is extensive, but what continues to shape her work most is a sustained engagement with relational models of healing and a deep respect for the intelligence of natural systems—how coherence returns when conditions allow.

Her presence in the treatment room is shaped by bilingual and bicultural lived experience. Spanish was her first language until her teenage years, informing attentiveness to nuance and what is expressed beyond language. Her Peruvian heritage continues to inform her understanding of lineage, relationship, and embodied knowledge across generations.

At its core, her work is about supporting conditions where a person can come back into relationship with themselves—not as something to be fixed, but as something already intelligent, responsive, and capable of change when met with care.
